In this field note
Moving bitcoin into your own wallet puts the receiving setup at the centre of the decision. Before opening a transfer form, know how you will check the address and recover access to that wallet. This is a source-based guide, not a transfer test carried out by HashrateTimes. US Robinhood Crypto is the scope; other countries and products have different rules.
Prepare the receiving wallet
Open the receiving wallet’s Bitcoin account and obtain its receive address. Keep its own instructions beside you. A product name alone does not establish which asset or network a particular receive screen uses.
Bitcoin.org’s wallet-security guidance explains why backups, protected credentials and separate storage locations matter. Work through that recovery plan before funding the wallet. Keep recovery secrets private: a public receive address is sufficient for someone to pay you.
Our hardware-wallet guide explains signing and address verification. If you are considering a card-based device, the Tangem review covers our owner’s Generation 2 experience, the lack of a separate display and backup trade-offs. It contains clearly marked referral links. A hardware purchase is not a prerequisite for understanding this transfer.
Send from the correct Robinhood account
Robinhood’s US transfer instructions require transfer verification. On the asset page, choose Send, provide the destination and amount, then inspect the review before submission. Match the asset, network and address. An approved transfer cannot be reversed.
For users with multiple investing accounts, Robinhood’s account FAQ says external crypto transfers are available from the primary individual account. Holdings in another eligible individual account require an internal transfer first. A missing external-transfer option can therefore be an account-selection issue.
Read the fee in the same units as the amount
The transfer documentation says a specified send amount has the estimated network fee added; Send All instead deducts the estimate from the balance. Check which mode you selected and the displayed total.
Here is an invented arithmetic example, not a Robinhood quote. Assume a balance of 0.01 BTC and a fee of 2,000 sats, or 0.00002 BTC:
| Scenario | Recipient amount | Balance used |
|---|---|---|
| Send 0.005 BTC | 0.005 BTC | 0.00502 BTC |
| Send the whole 0.01 BTC balance | 0.00998 BTC | 0.01 BTC |
At an assumed $100,000/BTC, the example fee is $2. Its size relative to a transfer is fee ÷ recipient amount: $2 against $500 is 0.4%. The same dollar fee represents a larger share of a smaller transfer. A separate trial payment also has its own fee; budget for both payments if you choose that approach.
Use our satoshi converter to compare denominations. The Bitcoin fee calculator explains rate × virtual size; it cannot reproduce Robinhood’s withdrawal estimate without the actual transaction inputs. Its result does not override the review screen.
Resolve an unavailable transfer before trying again
Check verification, the selected account and the limit shown in your app. Robinhood says withdrawal limits depend on account factors, so a generic dollar ceiling copied from another user’s experience is unreliable. Use its official support route for an unexplained restriction.
Robinhood Connect is a separate route offered inside participating wallets and apps. Its documentation distinguishes transferring existing crypto from purchasing through a payment method. Funding and participating-platform charges can differ. Do not treat a purchase quote as the price of moving an existing holding.
Keep your transfer record and check receipt in the destination wallet. A successful arrival settles that payment; it does not test whether your backup can restore access later.

Frequently asked questions
Can I send Bitcoin from Robinhood to my own wallet?
Eligible US accounts can send supported crypto to an external wallet after transfer verification. Check the receiving asset and network before approving the transfer.
Does the HRT fee calculator quote my Robinhood withdrawal fee?
No. It models a Bitcoin transaction from a fee rate and virtual size you supply. Robinhood's own review screen supplies the estimate for its withdrawal.
What does a 2,000-sat fee mean in BTC?
2,000 sats equals 0.00002 BTC. At an assumed $100,000 per BTC, that is $2. These are illustrative numbers, not a current quote.
How does Send All change the amount received?
Send All deducts the estimated network fee from the balance. With an illustrative 0.01 BTC balance and 0.00002 BTC fee, the recipient gets 0.00998 BTC. Check Robinhood's final review screen for the actual amounts.
